Zalok | Iran Leech Industry

The knowledge-based industrial group Iran Leech Industry, operating under the Zalok brand, brings together experienced specialists and scientists in biotechnology, microbiology, animal science, and fisheries. In 2009 the group launched extensive research into leech production and farming, as well as specialized additives and supplements for the leech industry. In 2013 it succeeded in establishing and localizing the first leech breeding and farming facility in Isfahan, based on the Iranian Hirudo orientalis species with a high reproduction rate.

In 2016, Iran Leech Industry obtained official membership in the IAHH international leech association, showcasing Iran’s capabilities in the leech field to the world. During 2016–2017, thanks to the insight of our expert team, we secured membership in other reputable international bodies in under a year — including official membership in the British Hirudotherapy Association (BAH) and the Russian leech association (WHTO). Finally, in 2018, the group became the official representative of the Australia and Oceania Hirudotherapy Institute in Iran.

The KataLeech supplement is one of Iran Leech Industry’s key achievements, developed and brought into production to treat leeches’ skin and fungal diseases and to lower water pH. This product resolved many of leech farmers’ concerns about finding a suitable medicine and supplement for these problems.

The Leech Science book is one of the valuable works by Iran Leech Industry’s experts, written to grow leech farmers’ knowledge and help them understand leeches better.
